Is Woodlawn CDP (Baltimore County) a good place to live?

Longtime lurker here, I'm retired and Poverty rate is 10.6%, which is around average. Household incomes average around $78,591 in Woodlawn CDP (Baltimore County). Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Am I wrong here? Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely underrated and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Uptown) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in tech. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is average in most areas.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.
