Hello, I relocated for work and It's a a smaller city city with about 58,991 people. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance! It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a electrician, 31, moved here 15 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The school system situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for young professionals. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Seattle, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $70K-$120K here.
**Final verdict:**

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions
- The safety scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Homeless population growing downtown
