Ansonia in the winter -how bad?

Hey folks, I'm retired and It's a a small town city with about 18,951 people. Homes are going for about $269,300 on average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Any advice would be great.

How much do you pay for rent in Ansonia?

I work in food service and Rent is about $1,405/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What do you all think?
