Why I chose Buffalo over bigger cities

OK so Born and raised here. Crime rate is something to consider -Buffalo sits at 97.4 per 100K. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Has anyone dealt with this? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 3 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in consulting. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'm a physical therapist and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is average and there's always something going on.
