Why I chose Buffalo over bigger cities

OK so Born and raised here. Crime rate is something to consider -Buffalo sits at 97.4 per 100K. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Has anyone dealt with this? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.
