Working in Maple Valley -salaries realistic?

Hey everyone, With a population of 28,121, Maple Valley is a smaller city. Median household income is $147,546, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $672,000, which is pretty steep. Rent is about $2,189/month for a decent place. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 33, moved here 13 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in East and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The community vibe situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for young professionals. tough vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $60K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.
