Marshall is underrated, change my mind

Hey folks, The median home value here is around $145,900, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 11.2%, which is around average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What are your go-to spots? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Tampa it's improving.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Maple Ridge. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
