First post here. I'm a teacher here and You can expect to pay around $1,011 for rent here. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 12 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 14 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are wild, gas is average.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Definitely worth checking out..

Bought a house here in 2019 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
